HIPAA regulations are now completely in effect.
Failure to comply with these regulations can lead to significant civil and criminal penalties, to both individuals and companies. Penalties which include fines up to $1.5 million and ten years of imprisonment. It is important that all who may come in contact with protected health information (PHI) understand and carry out their responsibilities under HIPAA rules.
